We Interrupt This Day Off...

The Bucks were taking a much-needed day off today, but it seems that the team was up to something after all...

As I mentioned yesterday, Fuller did not play in the latter two games this weekend after suffering some sort of injury on Friday, and it can be assumed that waiving him makes room for Ryan Penney to finally be added to the roster. By the way, he'll wear No. 4 if and when things become official.

Meanwhile, the league has announced Player and Goaltender of the Week honors for last week.

Rapid City Rush forward Chris Lipsett has been named Player of the Week. Lipsett had seven points in the Rush's three games last week, including a goal and an assist against the Bucks yesterday. He is third in the league in scoring with 11 points so far this season.

Oklahoma City Blazers netminder Andy Franck has been named Goaltender of the Week. Franck saved 90 of the 95 shots in four games last week for a .947 save percentage and 1.32 goals-against average. For the season, he is second in the league in GAA, behind Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs goalie Ken Carroll (who is currently on the IR). Franck leads the league with 135 saves and is third in save percentage behind Carroll and Bucks No. 1 Sebastien Centomo.

In spite of the impressive statistics, my favorite thing about Franck is his hometown. Very neat.

Because this is the Bucks' day off, it's also kind of supposed to be mine, so that's going to be all for now. However, I will have a notebook in tomorrow's paper, and I'll post more about the game yesterday after tomorrow's practice.

UPDATE: Here are CHL Director of Communications Bob Hoffman's "Shots from the Point" for today, which include his take on the 3-0-0 Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Brian Sandalow has more on those Bees here. I'll be going to the game in the Valley on Saturday and must admit I am excited to see the revamped Rio team take on the full Bucks squad for the first time (that I get to see) this season. Oh, and here is my game story from yesterday's win.
