Day Three

Though I am still personally a bit concerned by this strike situation, it seems that plenty of players aren't planning to take the PHPA's recommendation.

Greg Rajan has his third-day update here, and he mentions a couple of stories from around the league.

I am intrigued by a quote from PHPA executive director Larry Landon in this story by Sean Duff of The Coloradoan. Landon said:

"They (Eagles) run an incredible organization. This isn't about Colorado; guys want to play there. This is about leveling the field and raising the bar throughout the league."

I have to imagine that Laredo is another franchise for which the same is true, as is Arizona (though that is based on only a few conversations I had with Sundogs players during last season's Southern Conference Finals).

Meanwhile, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs' players do not believe themselves to be on strike, as evidenced by the headline on this story by Roy Lang III of the Shreveport Times.

As some of you probably saw, Bucks majority owner Glenn Hart was on KGNS last night and said, as I had quoted him saying in my story, that he expects "business as usual" for the Bucks and doesn't expect the strike declaration to affect the season.

Basically, it seems like nobody is on the same page here. So, will training camp start on Monday? Yes, according to everyone but the PHPA. Let's hope it does.

In other news, it seems three Bucks' signees are participating in AHL camps this week, as stated in a press release issued by the team today.

We already knew rookie forward Darryl Smith was going to be at Houston Aeros camp, but it seems rookie defenseman Ryan James Hand is at Rochester Americans camp and third-year winger Erick Lizon is in Rockford IceHogs camp.

This blog hasn't been update so here it goes. Officially the strike is over. Negotiations with labor and management will resume sometime next week. Thank God he listens to prayers. It seems labor couldn't muster enough players to go on strike so now the show must go on.

Let's get back to the business of playing hockey in Laredo.

GO BUCKS GO!
