The CHL announced on-ice officials and rule changes for the upcoming season today, with the most notable change being the decrease of overtime penalties from the customary two minutes to only one. That could get interesting.
Brian Sandalow and Greg Rajan have both been blogging away, and Rajan has a "Meet the IceRays" video with former Buck Dustin Traylen, in which Traylen states he has no hard feelings toward the Bucks off the ice, that you can see here.
Another video courtesy of Rajan, at least links-wise, is this KRIS-TV clip about Saturday night's exhibition loss to the IceRays, which showcases quite a bit of physicality...but doesn't answer my questions about Ryan Bennett's ejection due to his possibly one-sided scrap with Steve Weidlich.
The Monitor has already run some of Sandalow's season preview pieces; here is a feature about returning former Bees Kurtis Dulle, Ryan Shmyr and Trevor Weisgerber, and here is one about new head coach Chris Brooks.
While we will obviously have a preview for the season opener against the Rocky Mountain Rage in Friday's Times, the more season-oriented material will be a special section, which will also be included in Friday's paper.
Practice today was pretty much a duplicate of yesterday's; the power play has definitely been a big focus point for Coach after the failure to capitalize on the man-advantage last weekend.
Meanwhile, final rosters are due tomorrow at noon, so you can expect updates on that as soon as they are announced.

Something has to eating Gilbert Grape (Dustin Traylen) over in Corpus. On a previous interview with Rajan he indicated that he was looking forward to playing the Bucks just to get even or get back at a certain person. No indication on who that person could be.
I don't like downgrading any former Bucks players because they have all contributed to a winning team and it doesn't matter what year they played in Laredo. Laredo has always had a winning season. But Dustin should understand that like in any business, if you don't perform up to your expectations, guess what you're gone. That's the case with Traylen, Coach Roscoe lost confidence in his game and went to Ceci to finish the season. I believe that was what caused Traylen some bitteness. Why would Roscoe trade him to Mississippi just to have Mississippi send him to Corpus? Why? Because his stock went down.
Either way, I wish him well because he's really not a bad person, just not a great goalie. I think he'll do well in Corpus and I think he'll be a great contribution to the success the Ice Rays will have this year. For Rays fans it's something they've needed for a long time, some good goaltending and maybe a winning season.
GO Bucks GO
