About Last Night

Sorry if my posting during the game last night was a little haphazard. I was trying to live blog from my Blackberry while still paying close attention to the football game I was covering...but anyway.

As stated last night, the Bees won again, this time 4-3 in a comeback. Rookie forward Ryan Fuller had two goals for the Bucks, while Erick Lizon scored the other. Robin Bouchard, Travis Banga, Jesse Perrin and Evan Rankin did the scoring for the Bees.

Fuller should be pretty pleased with himself so far, as he leads the Bucks with three points in the preseason, while also displaying impressive size and toughness. Second-year forwards Matt Summers and Erick Lizon, who each had a point last night, have two apiece.

Obviously, I wasn't at the game last night, but it seems whichever goalie comes in during the middle of the game without getting a chance to warm up is going to be a bit of a mess early. That hurt Mike Collichio on Thursday and Ryan Gibb last night. With Centomo getting some playing time tonight, we'll see which rookie gets another period to prove himself.

Here is the final box from the game, but I'm not too sure how accurate it is. I seriously doubt Ryan James Hand would have played after sustaining an injury (which cannot be disclosed, per team policy) in Thursday night's game then missing Friday's morning practice.

Meanwhile, here is Bryan Benway's press release about it. Here is his preview for tonight's game against the Corpus Christi IceRays, the Bucks' final preseason contest.

Speaking of Corpus, the IceRays made their first cuts today. It seems Coach Ruskowski is the only one in the Southeast who isn't letting anyone go before he's seen them in all of the preseason games.

There were four other CHL preseason contests last night, with the Amarillo Gorillas defeating the New Mexico Scorpions 4-3, the Mississippi RiverKings beating the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 3-1, the Rapid City Rush winning their inaugural game 3-1 over the Rocky Mountain Rage and the Arizona Sundogs topping the Wichita Thunder, 5-4.

While perusing the box scores from these games, I obviously noticed a ridiculous amount of penalties (80 in the New Mexico-Amarillo game alone), but I also noticed a familiar face in an interesting place. Forward Derek Legault, who spent 22 games with the Bucks last season before being cut just before the playoffs, is apparently in training camp with the Arizona Sundogs.

I had also been meaning to mention that forward/defenseman Corey Courchene, who started last season in Laredo and played 40 games with the team, is at camp with the Odessa Jackalopes.
