Tonight's Results

Both of the teams who the Bucks were keeping an eye on tonight won, and both by the same score, as the Mississippi RiverKings defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-3, and the Texas Brahmas won 4-3 in overtime against the Amarillo Gorillas.

The Gorillas gave everyone a bit of a tease, pulling ahead 2-0 and leading for the majority of the game, but the Brahmas scored three third-period goals then won in overtime after Gorillas forward Michael Handza tied the game at three with just seven seconds left in regulation.

For the RiverKings, things were a little bit easier, as early power plays led to 3-1 lead after the first period that became a 4-1 lead before the Killer Bees were able to get back on the board.

The Corpus Christi IceRays won their game against the Rocky Mountain Rage 2-1, pulling them within four points of the Killer Bees for third place in the Southeast Division standings.

As of now, the Bucks have played one fewer game than the Killer Bees and IceRays and two fewer than the Brahmas.

The standings are as follows:

All four teams are in action tomorrow night, with the Bucks at the RiverKings, the Brahmas at the Gorillas once again, the Killer Bees at the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, and the IceRays at the New Mexico Scorpions.

In tonight's "marquee matchup," the Colorado Eagles went back to the place where they lost last season's President's Cup Finals and defeated the Arizona Sundogs 5-4 on Erik Adams' overtime goal.

The teams had met twice at the Budweiser Events Center this season, with the Eagles winning both games 7-5. Meanwhile, the Sundogs (17-20-3, 37 points) have just over half as many points as the league-leading Eagles (31-6-1, 63 pts.).

I have the day off tomorrow and need it to pack, but I will stop in to link to my preview in the morning and update about the results of the game at night.

Here are all of tonight's scores...

CHL: RiverKings 4, Killer Bees 3; Brahmas 4, Gorillas 3 (OT); Jackalopes 4, Scorpions 3; Thunder 3, Rush 1; Blazers 5, Oilers 2; IceRays 2, Rage 1; Eagles 5, Sundogs 4 (OT).
