Today's Leftovers and Scores

I figured I may as well transcribe all my quotes from this afternoon and just post the ones I didn't use in my story on here. It's not a whole lot, but it's something.

Rookie defenseman Devin Featherstone on the team's defensive struggles:

"I think one of our main concerns may be that we don’t have a lot of communication. When you look at it from Terry’s point of view, it’s the simple little things. When we aren’t winning our battles or we let a guy go, that’s going to affect everything. I don’t think it’s one main reason; it’s just a little bit of everything."

On the effects of two-a-days:

"I think we’re going to come out crashing and banging and win these games this weekend."

Coach Ruskowski on this week's practices:

"Obviously, we ran out of time to do everything I wanted to do. But we hope that they catch on and hope that they’ll stick to the systems and not go out and play street hockey or pond hockey, where everybody goes all over the place and does their own thing. If we do our systems, I think we’ll be successful. But, then again, everybody has to execute properly."

The biggest issue he's seen with the defense (and his reaction):

"Just really consistency. They play well one period, then the next period they just don’t get on the guy hard enough, they give him too much time and space to make the play, they get beat one-on-one, they take unnecessary penalties. You just want to pull out your hair…well, in my case, it falls out anyways. But you just go, ‘What happened? What turned this on?’ It gets very frustrating. Very frustrating."

Whether or not the team got the point of two-a-days:

"We'll find out this weekend if it got to them or not. If it didn't, we may have to emphasize that to them again."

Playing well for the "Pink in the Rink" game:

"It's very important that we play a strong game all the way through. Sometimes, you only get one kick at the cat...the first impression's always the best impression. Some people have never watched us play, and we go out there and do very well and they have a great time, they may want to come back and hopefully they will come back to watch us play and we could build off of that. It's very important for us to play a good game tomorrow."

Goalies for this weekend:

"Centomo, and we'll play it by ear after that."

Tonight's CHL Score: Mudbugs 4, IceRays 1.
