Game Day No. 35

Another big weekend for the Bucks begins tonight as they take on the Corpus Christi IceRays at the American Bank Center before driving upstate to take on the Texas Brahmas at the NYTEX Centre in North Richland Hills on Saturday.

As my preview for this weekend makes clear, the team is well aware of the fact that two regulation wins and loss by the Brahmas to the Arizona Sundogs tonight could put them back on top of the Southeast Division.

Actually, if the Brahmas and Sundogs tie and the Bucks win both of their games outright, they'll at least be tied for the top spot heading into another meeting on Wednesday. Plus, the Bucks have a game in hand on the Brahmas at this point.

Here are the division standings as of today prior to any games being played:

Sorry that's so tiny; blogger.com is not my best friend sometimes.

For more on tonight's game, you can check out the pre-game notes, Bryan Benway's preview and Greg Rajan's take on the IceRays' slump heading into tonight.

Rajan is reporting that there will be an addition to the roster currently given for the IceRays, as they brought in defenseman John Halverson to fill an empty spot.

As previously mentioned, the division leaders will be in action tonight against the Sundogs, while the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees are hosting the Amarillo Gorillas.

Brian Sandalow has a feature about the Killer Bees' young goalie duo to serve as his introduction to the team's series and also shared his take on the All-Star Game and skating toddlers yesterday.

Previously, he released his Southeast Division standings for this week, which kept each team in the same spot as it held last week.

I'm going to go ponder the meaning of life for the next half hour until the Penguins host the Ducks in their first game without Sidney Crosby since March 2, 2008. That itself wouldn't be as bad if Pascal Dupuis, Kris Letang, Rob Scuderi and Max Talbot hadn't also been recently injured...or if Sergei Gonchar and Mike Zigomanis hadn't been on the IR for a while already (Gonchar for quite a long while).

But, rest assured, as of 7:05, I will do my best to live blog the Bucks' scoring and penalties and anything else I can find out in spite of CHL TV difficulties...at least until the basketball calls start pouring in.

Last Night's NHL Scores: Bruins 2, Islanders 1; Maple Leafs 6, Hurricanes 4; Canadiens 3, Predators 2; Lightning 4, Flyers 1; Wild 5, Oilers 1; Blues 5, Avalanche 2; Sabres 5, Stars 4 (SO); Coyotes 4, Canucks 1; Flames 3, Sharks 2; Red Wings 4, Kings 0.
