You can follow the action from tonight's game on Pointstreak, and luckily, it seems like the off-ice officials in Corpus have their stuff together a bit better than the guys in Laredo did last night.
According to the box score, Dan Spence is starting for the Bucks, so I guess Coach Ruskowski changed his mind.
Players for the Bucks participating in both games are defensemen Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, Drew Kivell, Nick Klaren, Tomas Sample and Nick Williams, forwards Blair Hawes, Maxime Lincourt, Matt McKeown, Ian Schwabe, Justin Styffe and Neil Trimm and goaltender Kyle Gajewski.
Those playing tonight who did not play in last night's loss are defensemen Cody Hamilton and Jarred Mohr, forwards P.J. Corsi and Lance Monych and goaltender Dan Spence.
First Period: The game is under way, and Spence is indeed the starting netminder. Wonder why Ruskowski changed his mind. Tommy Lee is in net for the IceRays. No comment on that name. ... Bucks got the first power play of the game on a tripping call against Justin St. Louis two minutes in but could not capitalize. ... Corsi took the Bucks' first penalty, for high-sticking, at 12:07. It's difficult to tell much from Pointstreak right now, as they seem to not be updating shot counts. Maybe during intermission. ... End of the period, and now the IceRays are credited with one shot. That's the only one on the board. Weird. Meanwhile, Trimm took a slashing penalty at 18:32, so the IceRays will be back on the power play when the second period begins.
Second Period: Either something is prolonging intermission or the Pointstreak guys are taking a nap. ... And suddenly Pointstreak says it's the second intermission with the IceRays leading 2-1. Bryan Benway told me it's actually the third period but didn't give a score. Rob Jarvis has scored twice for the IceRays, while Evan Schwabe knocked one in for the Bucks. Maxime Lincourt and Nick Klaren had the assists.
Third Period: Okay, now it is 3-1 on a power-play goal by Chad Woollard. Forgot to mention Jarvis's first was also on the power play. According to this, Spence has allowed three goals on five shots. I hope that isn't really the case. ... Okay, I just missed a lot. The game is tied 4-4. Hawes, Lincourt and Schwabe have scored for the Bucks, with Sample, Flather, Styffe and Monych grabbing an assist apiece. Jarvis tied it up, notching a hattie at 14:54. Clarke fought Tyler Sheldrake, and Styffe fought Steven Later. Wonder if he did as well as he did against Stacey Bauman last night.
Overtime: Bucks lose, 5-4, on Maxime Boisclair's game-winner. You can read Benway's recap here.
Postgame: Pretty much nothing on Pointstreak was right other than the names of the guys who had points and took penalties. Gajewski did start and stopped 22 of 23 shots, then Spence replaced him and allowed four goals on 13 shots.
