Hiebert Signs with Brahmas

Before I post some notes from practice this morning, just wanted to let you guys know I have it on good authority that James Hiebert has signed with the Texas Brahmas.

The signing has obviously not been made official yet, but Coach Ruskowski did say that Hiebert was released from any obligations he had to stay with the Bucks, and two people have confirmed that he will be suiting up with the Brahmas this season.

This news came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I thought he really was focusing on his solar system business this time, but I guess he decided he still wanted to play.

When I spoke to Hiebert at the end of last season, he said he would want to come back to the Bucks if Ruskowski would have him, but I figured he was just saying that for the sake of the fans. Apparently, that might not have been the case.

Obviously, this will create an interesting situation when the Bucks face the Brahmas this season, especially considering the type of player Hiebert is. The teams meet seven times in the regular season, including four at the LEC. Their first game is Saturday, Nov. 21, in Laredo.

What are your thoughts on this news? Had you hoped to see Hiebert play with the Bucks again, or do you think his time here had run its course? Are you curious to see him play against his former team this season?

Hiebert is a good player but is a bit of a loose cannon. He was very unpredictable and took a lot of unnecessary penalties. The Bucks will do just fine without him. It will be interesting when the brahmas come to town.

WOW :( that sucks,.......

I can already see him fighting his replacement (Styffe). I agree that he is a loose cannon, but that's how he plays. There is no doubt that his presence at the end of last season made a difference. Bottom line, the guy can score, he can set up plays, and he can fight. He would have been a good addition as only the second vet on the team.

Shebert is nothing more than a curiosity; as in: I'm very curious as to why Texas decided to sign him and why Roscoe let him go so easily.

If he makes any kind of impact at all on this Texas team, I'll be surprised enough to give up pudding for one week. And if you know me, you know how difficult that would be.

Hey Puddinface, why are you always questioning Rosco's transactions? If you really want to know, why don't you dare ask him. You should be asking your coach why he traded an allstar d-man (Dulle) instead. By the way your not having pudding, your actually eating Gerber. ;-)
Good luck on Sunday.

I heard through the great vine that hiebert isn't the only ex Buck to be joining the Brahmas this year, word is Ryan Salvis is going to be with Texas.

We dont need him at all, he was just a waste of money to the team. sorry but he was. I dont think he helped out the team last year and I am so sure that the team will DO BETTER WITHOUT HIM!!

I didn't have to ask Brooks, he told us straight out and so did Dulle. We as fans can make our own judgements. Roscoe's the one who makes questionable moves without explanation.

As for Roscoe . . . come on, aren't you even a little bit curious as to why he let one of his favorites go? If Shebert is ready to hit the ice and play this year, why isn't he in a Bucks' sweater? I thought he was Roscoe's boy.

I for one will miss Heibert very much. He is a very good hockey player and makes games very interesting. As far as being a loose canon isn't that what hockey is all about not knowing what to expect what is going to happen next. The Brahamas are very lucky to have signed Heibs and I only wish it could have been us instead.

Hiebert was far from the player he could be the last couple of seasons and I think some of us questioned his commitment to the team.

As a vet, there was no cap space for him on this year's team.

If there is a fight between Jason Stiffe and Captain (Sweet Baby James)Crunch, my money is on Stiffe. Stiffe might be smaller in size but he's a proven fighter and is not afraid of throwing down with anyone. He proved it in Corpus, Rio and in Laredo.

On a side note, good luck to Heibs, he did well in Laredo and you can only appreciated a person who helped Laredo win a championship. What a great pick up for the Brahmas! This is the same Heibert that beat the Mudbugs in the championship where the current Brahmas coach once played. Who would have thought?
