More Rivet

Here is my story about the Adam Rivet re-signing in today's Times.

And, as promised, here are some quotes from Rivet at yesterday's press conference:

On the team's older players teaching the newbies:
“Hopefully the big thing is the guys returning have won a championship in Laredo, and hopefully they (the rookies) see what we’re doing and we have a positive influence, working hard, doing the right things at the right times.”

On falling short of the finals last season:
“You always have one goal in mind, to win a championship, and when you lose like that it really puts a damper on things. You try to move forward. I don’t think we were far off last year; a couple little things. It comes down to working hard and whether you want it or not, and unfortunately we let it slip from us last year. We’ve just got to try not to do the same thing.”

On the team's new goaltender Sebastien Centomo:
“He’s a great goaltender. I played against him in juniors, and I remember how good he was back then. I haven’t really played against him that much when he was in Mississippi and Oklahoma, but I know he’s a really good goalie, and I really think he’s going to help us, and hopefully he is the man that we need to get a little further.”

And one last quote from head coach/general manager Terry Ruskowski:
"I guarantee you that this guy (Rivet) was one of the top priorities to coming back. He’s always in there either on the All-Star Team or as runner-up for best defenseman. He’s always guy I can count on game in and game out, and not just on the ice, but off the ice. You see him a number of times doing different appearances for charity events, going to schools, teaching hockey or teaching how to read. He’s just a character guy, a classy individual, and that’s the type of guy we like to have."
