Yesterday's Quotes

For those of you who are LMT subscribers, here's my story from today's Times about yesterday's signings and AHL announcements.

For those of you who aren't, here are some of Coach Ruskowski's quotes:

On goaltender Kyle Gajewski:

"I called a coach about one guy in another league, and he said, 'No, this guy's better.'Our scouts saw him, and we heard from agents and different people... he's not very big, but he competes every night. He set the wins record with the team in Sault St. Marie. Playing that many years with a team of that caliber and having that many wins pretty nice feat to have. We're looking forward to seeing him."

On Dan Spence/goalie situation:

"I've heard Spence is doing well. That's good for him; we want to help kids, not hurt them. If someone comes up that interests me, I might go after it. But I think at the present time, we're kind of done with the goalie situation."

On forward Josef Fojtik:

"He may be one of fastest skaters in the Double-A leagues. He's a good skater with great speed and handles the puck well. Obviously, he can score, but we're hoping he can score even more when he gets to us."

"Speed is where is at, and he brings speed and experience. He played in the American League a little bit; this was a good chance to bring in someone with great speed who can create his own opportunities to score."

On forward Maxime Lincourt/Aeros camp:

"He looked very good. He did a pretty impressive job and has a great one-timer. I'm down here to see how talented they are and what kind of talent is out there if we have the possibility of getting some other players. It's good to have good rapport with the American League; you never know what that can lead to. I think those kids will probably come back unless something really unbelievable happens. But then we'll just go ahead and get someone else."
