Game No. 47 - Bucks at Scorpions

I'll try to update as much as possible based on the Pointstreak box score, but you can follow the game at that link yourself if I fall behind when calls start coming in.

First Period: Sebastien Centomo and Kyle McNulty are tonight's starting goaltenders. ... Somehow the Bucks were being outshot 3-1 prior to Josh Bonar going to the box for a hooking penalty at 5:22 and are now outshooting the Scorpions 6-3 with the penalty having expired. Not sure if that actually happened on the PK, though. ... The Bucks got their first chance on the power play when Lyon Messier was called for stick holding at 9:02 but couldn't capitalize and returned the favor when Ryan Salvis took a hooking penalty two seconds after Messier got out of the box. ... I guess they have hooking fever tonight, because Bonar got called for it again less than a minute after Salvis' penalty expired. Both penalties were killed. ... There's one you don't see often; Adam Rivet just got called for kneeing with 2:26 to play in the period. Bucks are outshooting the Scorps 10-8 in spite of all the penalties. ... Jordan Foote decided he wanted some 4-on-4, so he took a cross-checking penalty at 19:01 in the period. The Bucks didn't score before the first ended, so they'll start the second with 61 seconds on the power play.

Second Period: Nothing doing on that power play. Shots are even at 12 a couple minutes into the second. ... Alex Goupil has taken the first penalty of the period, interference at 6:22, to put the Scorpions on their fifth power play. ... That was the straw that broke the camel's back as one of my favorite names in the league, Torren Delforte, was able to net a power-play goal on an assist from Neal Trimm exactly one minute after Goupil went to the box. Scorpions lead 1-0. ... The Bucks are getting 1:45 of 5-on-3 play here, as Mike MacDonald got called for interference at 8:26 and Adam Blanchette followed him to the box on a hooking call at 8:41. If they can't take advantage of this opportunity against the league's second-worst penalty kill, that's probably a bad sign. ... Guess the IceRays can beat the Killer Bees after all. ... Darryl Smith got my message and scored 10 seconds into the 5-on-3. The goal is currently listed as unassisted. ... Time for another power play, as Seth Leonard has gone off for high sticking at 13:22. ... Make that another 5-on-3, as Chris Robertson went off for slashing 14 seconds after Leonard's call. ... I don't think goals being unassisted according to the New Mexico scorekeeper means they actually are, as Serge Dube has now notched an "unassisted" tally of his own at 14:44 in the period. Bucks lead 2-1. ... Leonard must not like the way things are going, as he is headed to the box for unsportsmanlike conduct with just seven seconds left in the period. ... The Bucks will be starting the third with almost an entire power play. They lead 27-22 on shots.

Third Period: Nothing doing on that power play. ... Very quiet third period so far; nothing on the board more than halfway through. ... Goupil tacked one on for the Bucks with 59 seconds left in the game.

Game Over: Bucks win 3-1, improve to 27-16-4 (58 points). Two solid goalie performances with McNulty saving 35 of 38 and Centomo stopping 31 of 32.
