Defensemen Jaye Judd and Steve Weidlich have officially been taken off the injured reserve after serving a bit over a month apiece on the 14-day IR with upper-body injuries.
Both of them participated in full practice today, and Coach Ruskowski said Judd will definitely play this weekend but Weidlich still needed to be cleared by the doctor. That may have already happened between when I left practice and now; I'm going to call Ruskowski tomorrow and check up on it.
I'll also be checking in with him about Jeff Bes' situation. Bes has been back at the arena the past couple days and was waiting in Ruskowski's office when I left.
Ruskowski hadn't gotten in touch with Bes' surgeon yet when I left but said resolving all that was one of his priorities for today.
Bes was off his crutches and appeared to be in good spirits, so hopefully that's a good sign.
The other injury victims, forwards Rick Kozak and Bobby Russell, have been out skating in their track suits the past couple practices and appear to be in their regular playing shape.
Kozak was even taking a few shots on goal and could be back in the lineup for games as early as next weekend if certain things go according to plan.
That should about cover it for now.
