Game No. 20 - Bucks at Brahmas

I indeed did not watch this game because I was checking out that disaster of a fight, but the Bucks came out on top 2-1 in their first shootout of the season.

Coach Ruskowski will assuredly be able to point out some negatives about the way his team played tonight, but they seem to have done a pretty good job overall and improved to 15-5-0 (30 points) to extend their lead over the Brahmas (12-6-2, 26 pts.) to four points.

The goalie selections were not at all what I expected (Sebastien Centomo for the Bucks, Brett Jaeger for the Brahmas), but Darryl Smith scored his 16th goal of the season, and fellow rookie center Jason Dixon won it in the shootout.

I'm kind of surprised that Ruskowski chose to go with Dixon as his first shooter considering Dixon had the team's only penalty shot (at least that I've seen) of the season and didn't get it, but clearly his decision paid off. Smith also scored on his shootout chance, but no matter because Centomo stopped all four Brahmas shooters.

I'll have more on this win in my notebook that runs Monday for Tuesday, if not before then, but here are the rest of the scores from tonight.

Other Scores: Jackalopes 2, IceRays 1; Mudbugs 2, Thunder 1; Sundogs 7, Killer Bees 4 (Yikes.); Oilers 3, Blazers 1 (Huh?); Eagles 4, Rage 2; Rush 3, RiverKings 2; Gorillas 6, Scorpions 3.

NHL Scores: Senators 3, Penguins 2; Capitals 2, Maple Leafs 1; Thrashers 5, Islanders 1; Bruins 4, Panthers 0; Devils 2, Canadiens 1 (OT); Flyers 2, Hurricanes 1 (OT); Red Wings 5, Blackhawks 4 (SO); Sabres 4, Lightning 3; Predators 1, Wild 0; Blues 4, Coyotes 3; Oilers 3, Sharks 2 (OT); Kings 3, Blue Jackets 0.
