Game Day No. 19

Sorry for the lack of updates earlier today. Here is my game story from last night's 6-4 win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, which I will blog more about when the weekend is through (probably while watching the Colts on Sunday).

Today, the Bucks are hosting the Arizona Sundogs in the teams' third meeting in a week. The Bucks won both games last weekend at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Ariz., and now get to test their strength here at the LEC.

The Bucks (13-5-0, 26 points) are leading the Southeast Division and tied for the lead in the Southern Conference heading into tonight's game. Their 3-point lead over the Texas Brahmas (11-6-1, 23 pts.) guarantees that they cannot lose the division lead tonight, but I'm guessing they'd prefer to add to it before heading up to North Richland Hills to face the Brahmas for the first time this season tomorrow night.

Tonight, the Brahmas are hosting the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The other Southeast teams, the Killer Bees (8-6-2, 18 pts.) and Corpus Christi IceRays (7-8-1, 15 pts.) are taking on each other at Dodge Arena in Hidalgo.

Other games tonight pit the Tulsa Oilers against the Odessa Jackalopes, the Mississippi RiverKings against the Rapid City Rush and the Amarillo Gorillas against the New Mexico Scorpions.

It's a fairly slow night in the NHL, with the Calgary Flames at the St. Louis Blues, the Vancouver Canucks at the Minnesota Wild, the Colorado Avalanche at the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers at the Los Angeles Kings.

Speaking of the NHL, Gary Bettman handed out Sean Avery's punishment today in the form of a 6-game suspension. Oy.

But anyway, for more on tonight's game, you can read Bryan Benway's preview and check out the Pointstreak pre-game notes. It seems to be Girl Scout night, oh boy.
