I'm belated in mentioning this, but equipment manager Matt Brayfield was signed to a 5-day contract on Saturday to back up Pier-Olivier Pelletier in the Bucks' game against the Corpus Christi IceRays after Kyle Gajewski was injured in an incident involving former Buck Alex Penner in Friday's 6-5 shootout win over the Colorado Eagles.
Brayfield was released today, as was forward Bear Trapp, whose hit on Brett Thurston Friday night and fight against Jereme Tendler on Saturday were apparently not enough to save him from being waived for the second time this season.
Those cuts seem to imply Gajewski and Curtis Billsten will be healthy enough to play when the Bucks finally get back on the ice together on Friday night against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in Hidalgo.
In other news, Devan Dubnyk was sent back up to the Edmonton Oilers, so it seems Jean-Philippe Levasseur will be staying with the Springfield Falcons indefinitely. The Bucks do not expect him back for the All-Star Game but will not replace him on the South Texas roster, leaving the goaltending duties in the hands of Andy Franck and Kevin Nastiuk.
