Game No. 24 - Bucks at Gorillas

First Period: The links to watch or listen to the game are in my last post, and you can also follow it via the Pointstreak box score. ... Not much I could tell you from the box score until 11:16, as Stuart McRae has given the Gorillas a 1-0 lead on a goal assisted by Jake Morissette. Kyle Gajewski is in net for the Bucks, making his second straight start for the first time this season, while Tuomas Lohtander is in goal for the Gorillas. ... And now we have the first penalties of the game, as Justin Styffe and Chris Cloud duked it out to earn five for fighting apiece. ... Oops, forgot to mention that Maxime Lincourt is indeed playing, and he took a hooking penalty at 19:51 to put the Gorillas on a power play that they will get the majority of in the second period. ... End of the period, Gorillas lead 1-0, up 12-7 on shots.

Second Period: Nothing doing on that power play, but David Nimmo has given the Gorillas a 2-0 lead on a goal currently listed as unassisted, which was scored 3:22 into the period. Gorillas nearly doubling the Bucks in shots at this point at 15-8. ... The Bucks got one back at 4:38 when Lance Monych scored on an assist from Evan Schwabe, but the Gorillas took another two-goal lead on another unassisted tally by Nimmo at 7:05. They lead 3-1. ... Make that 3-2 at 8:47 in the period, as Darryl Smith has scored a power-play goal during Erik Felde's stay in the penalty box for a hooking call. Curtis Billsten has what is currently the lone assist. ... Guess the Gorillas aren't fond of only being up by one tonight. Felde just made up for his prior transgression by scoring on an assist from Austin Sutter at 10:59 to make it 4-2. ... And now they have the first three-goal lead, as Jake Obermeyer scored on an assist from Cloud at 12:06. Gorillas lead 5-2. .. They just added an assist for Jarred Mohr on Smith's goal, which, by the way, gave Smith the team lead outright with 10 on the season. ... Oh, and Nimmo's second goal now lists an assist by Joe Guenther. ... Another purportedly unassisted goal, this one by Anthony Battaglia at 18:25, has made this 6-2 in favor of the Gorillas. ... End of the period, Gorillas lead 6-2, up 29-17 on shots. Those of you who have watched the games, what is the difference between Gajewski on Thursday stopping 33 of 33 shots and tonight allowing six goals on 29? Is is the way the team is playing in front of him, or was he never really challenged on Thursday? Just curious about your opinions on that.

Third Period: Bucks got an early power play with an interference call against James Jernberg just 40 seconds into the period but couldn't capitalize and will now get another chance with Neil Smith going to the box for tripping at 8:32. ... Nothing doing on that, either, and now the Gorillas have a 5-on-3 after Monych went to the box at 12:59 for board checking and Eric Giosa followed at 13:25 for high sticking. ... Billsten has cut the Gorillas' lead to 6-3 at 17:23 in the period. Styffe has what is currently the lone assist. Not sure 2:37 is enough time for the Bucks to tie this one up. ... Indeed it was not.

Game Over: Bucks lose 6-3, fall to 13-7-4 (30 points), while the Gorillas snap their six-game losing streak to improve to 9-15-4 (22 points). Considering he wasn't happy with the morning skate, I'm guessing Coach Ruskowski is more than a little angry right now. Should be a fun bus ride to Missouri.

UPDATE: Sorry, was so busy with other stuff that I just noticed Mark Sibbald got his first action with the Bucks during the third period of tonight's loss. He set aside 13 of 14 shots faced while playing part of the second and the entire third period. The Bucks were outshot 38-31 in the game. You can read more about the loss in Bryan Benway's recap, which clears up the goalie switch and reveals Gajewski actually allowed those five goals on just 24 shots.

The team must certainly be playing differently, I haven't heard or been watching. But regardless Gajewski absolutely sucks, and he is by far the worst goalie the Bucks have ever had in their history. Rajan says he wasn't really challenged in the shutout, I believed it, and even moreso now. Dump the juice.

hey anonymous what's the deal with the swearing, man? You should already come to expect that this team; who at this time have no true leaders, aren't going anywhere anytime soon. If by chance they make it to the playoffs it'll be an early exit just like last year. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we won't be sucessfull until Coach Rosco drops all those extra titles to his name and start coaching and recruiting like back in the days. Accept the fact that we're a sub-par team playing below sub-par.

He's the one to blame since he calls the shots and determines who goes and who stays. Half of the team should have already been gone by now. Goodness, how do you lose to the cellar dwellers like Amarillo, Arizona and Missouri for crying out loud?

I'm with you the Juice needs to go and I don't know why the coach is so enamoured with him. He stinks and that's bad because he's not even CHL worthy.

Pretty soon fans will start wearing brown paper bags over their heads at the Bucks game in shear embarrasment. AKA New Orleans Saints of the 70's and 80's.

Here's looking towards next year!

Welcome to the Price is Right! Jay, what's the prize for losing to the lowly Gorillas? Bob, A TRIP FOR 24 TO GO SEE THE KC CHIEFS AT ARROWHEAD STADIUM.

Unbelievable, here we are in Laredo as Bucks fans pissed and upset that we lose to the Gorillas and they get treated to a nice relaxing day at a football game. Something isn't right, why would you reward a team for not only losing but stinking up the ice?

I'm just wondering when Bentway and Rosco will call it like it is, we have the weakest team in Bucks history and in the CHL. I don't believe for one iota that they're practicing hard to win the game in Missouri, Hello! So why doesn't it show in a game? I'm tired of hearing Rosco and Bentway sugar coat this team like it's all going to be okay.

Man I'm so pissed I can't think straight. I wish more fans would get on this blog just to express their disappointment with the entire Bucks organization.

I agree with u man i am so disappointment in this team. They have showed everyone that they can play but then again they have showed everyone that they can play like dumba_s. Benway dont get me started talking about stats and stats its just like just try and do a better job at calling the game. Do a better job learn from others listen to how other chl or even ahl guys do it please!!!!. Coach please coach this team have them prepared to play at least work hard not just be skating around like whatever. if they lose and they worked hard i am ok with it but if they lose cause they forgot to close out the game or because they were not working hard then COME ON all the games they have lost this year was because of lack of effort. or because they were just skating around and didnt finish off the game. Benway i hope u read this man!!!!!

Here we go again Bucks lose to Missouri in a shootout. Is there no end to our losing ways? We're probably going to hear the same old stuff "if we play hard and stick with our system, good things will happen" or "we need to play better defense, finish our checks and be aggressive". Well guess what Buck fans, it's not happening. We just lost to two of the worst teams in the league Arizona and Missouri. Rosco is probably going to come out saying things like "they have an outstanding team and their records is no indication of how good of a team they are" or we'll hear something like "gosh darn, we just need to play better hockey" . Yadi!Yadi!Yadi! There goes 4 points that we actually needed to catch up to Texas and Allen and we only come away with 1. How ridiculous is that?

Sound famliar? It should cause that's what we hear after every loss by the Bucks.

It's time to break out the brown paper bags or start getting rid of the season ticket.

I think people are over reacting at this point. The season is still young and Rosco will make the right moves if he has to. I guess there a lot of fairweather fans out there. You stick with your team no matter what. We aren't always going to win. We're lucky enough every year just to make the playoffs. Some teams haven't made the playoffs in years, let alone have winning records. Take a chill pill.
