Game No. 19 - Bucks vs. Jackalopes

Starters: Bucks - Curtis Billsten (F), Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel (D), Kyle Gajewski (G), Eric Giosa (F), Cody Hamilton (D), Mike Sgroi (F); Jackalopes - Alex Dunn (D), Garrett Gruenke (D), Mike Ramsay (F), Brian Swiniarski (F), Sebastien Thinel (F), Juha Toivonen (G).

First Period: Jeff Pierce hit the post about five minutes in on the best chance of the game for either team. Another flurry of shots not much later has brought the Jacks' total up to five, compared to two for the Bucks. ... Dunn headed to the box for holding the stick at 9:12 to give the Bucks the first power play of the game. ... Power play over without many threats to the Jacks. ... The Bucks finally tested Joivonen, but to no avail. After the fact, Justin Styffe started some shoving, Darryl Smith worked his way into it and Jeff Bes got mixed up in the midst of five Jackalopes on the scene. Amusingly, the defensemen on the ice for the Bucks (Jeremy Swanson and Mike Looby) stayed back at the blue line and let their forwards deal with whatever was going to happen. ... Couple guys in the box - one for each team, and not sure who - and Styffe took advantage of a little extra room to shove in a rebound for the first goal of the game. Evan Schwabe had passed to Swanson, who took a shot from just outside the left circle that was knocked in by Styffe, who was standing directly to Toivonen's left. ... Okay, Dominic Leveille and Smith are the guys in the box. For roughing. You know there's some tension between teams when those two guys are the ones taking roughing calls. ... Leveille will get some company in the box now as Colin Circelli has been called for boarding at 13:44. The Bucks will have a 4-on-3 power play for 1:18, then a 5-on-4 for 42 seconds. Unless they score first. ... The goal was scored at 13:19, by the way. ... Bucks up 11-8 on shots at this point. ... End of the period, Bucks lead 1-0, up 14-11 on shots. Sound familiar?

Second Period: Some kid saw himself on the Jumbotron during the intermission and got up and walked away from his seat. That would be my exact reaction to such a situation, so that made me laugh. ... Some very nice work so far in this one by Toivonen, whose team has yet to take a shot with the advantage now 20-11 in favor of the Bucks. ... Wow. Schwabe just put the Bucks up 2-0 at 4:52, skating the puck up into the Jacks' zone and snapping the puck right over Toivonen's left shoulder on a wobbly shot. Looby passed the puck to him and was trailing into the zone, which kept the four Jacks who were in on the play distracted. You can tell Toivonen's mad at himself right now, and with good reason considering how many better shots he's saved tonight. Tough one to give up for a goalie; let's see if the Bucks can do anything with that blow to his confidence. Bes will likely get the second assist once they award one. ... Jackalopes get their first power play of the game on the Bucks' second penalty, cross-checking against Jarred Mohr at 5:09. ... And wow again. Styffe just stole the puck from the league's best power play unit to skate up the ice and score shorthanded on a goal fairly similar to the one Schwabe scored a couple minutes ago. I was honestly thinking the Bucks' penalty kill looked more offensive than their power play, and I think Styffe just proved me right. One of the Jacks was tied up in the Bucks' zone, and he just skated in to grab that puck and go with it. That was his second goal of the game, making this his first multi-goal game of the season. ... Dieude-Fauvel just went down the runway to the locker room, but he was accompanied by equipment manager Matt Brayfield, so I doubt it's anything to be worried about. ... Jacks just took a penalty in a pretty desperate situation to put the Bucks back on the power play. Patrick Mbagara will serve two for hooking, starting at 10:11. ... Post-power play, Sgroi got a breakaway chance, but he was stoned by Toivonen. ... Ramsay in the box for tripping at 15:37 to put the Bucks on the power play again. ... Thinel has the Jacks on the board via a spiffy backhand shot into the top right corner with 1:46 to play in regulation. They haven't given any assists yet, but they will. ... End of the period, Bucks lead 3-1, up 28-18 on shots.

Third Period: And now it is 4-1 on Giosa's second in two nights, set up again by Billsten, with Mohr getting the other assist. That goal came 2:40 into the final period. Allowing that bad goal to Schwabe really did seem to get under Toivonen's skin. ... Yeah, if Paul Gillis cares at all about Toivonen's confidence, he needs to get him out of there. Just 3:52 into the third, it is 5-1 on a goal by Jeff Bes, assisted by Styffe. Gajewski's getting bored in the other end, but I don't think he minds too much. No shots on him yet this period. Styffe passed it up to Bes from just inside the blue line, the Bes walked in between the circles and sent it past Toivonen easily. Looks like he'll be staying in the game, though. Guess it's more important to Gillis to give his apparent No. 1 guy a rest. ... Jackalopes going on the power play for just the second time tonight with Sgroi in the box for goaltender interference at 11:41. ... Bunch of penalties here in the last few minutes, but they aren't affecting much of anything so far. ... Okay, take that back; Bucks make it 6-1 on the power play with a goal by Robin Richards, assisted by Igor Agarunov and Styffe.

Game Over: Bucks win 6-1, improve to 11-4-4 (26 points). Jackalopes fall to 16-4-2 (34 points) and retain the league lead in points. First time the Bucks have beaten the Jacks since Game 2 of the conference semifinals on March 28 and first time in the regular season since March 21. ... That was the happiest I've seen Ruskowski after a game in a loooooong time.

Note: My story is going to say Styffe had five points tonight, two goals and three assists, despite the fact that the box score says he had four. The final assist will be added by the league on Monday at the latest, but just wanted to assure you that it did happen.

Ha what if Gajewski gets a shutout tonight?

Guess that won't happen after all. Levasseur was probably relieved when the Jacks scored.

I guess I almost called an 8 - 1 victory for the bucks tonight. People just might give Juice a little more support. I must agree that our P/K is far more potent than our lame P/P. The Jacks spread out the ICE very well during their PP opening up shooting and passing lanes. We're packed to tightly this it's not too difficult to disrupt a pass.

Big bonus with P/K the number one PP team 0-12.

You cannot blame Mario for such things. He does not have any educational or professional background in graphic design, video production or web design. He was basically forced to learn this when he was hired. He's a DJ, that is what he is good at and being forced to learn all the other stuff was unfair to him. Put him on a turn table with some Techno, he will excel at. Anything having to do with graphic design, web pages or video don't blame him, blame those who are too cheap to hire a qualified individual.
