Game No. 6 - Bucks vs. Killer Bees

Starters: Bucks - Peter-James Corsi (F), Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel (D), Kyle Gajewski (G), Maxime Lincourt (F), Tomas Sample (D), Justin Styffe (F); Killer Bees - Andy Franck (G), Jay Hardwick (D), Mike Harr (D), Aaron Lee (F), Zac McClellan (F), Topher Scott (F).

First Period: The Bucks are wearing their road uniforms today, so as long as a photog shows up for us, I'll be able to post photos of both new jerseys this week. ... Bucks get an early power play 1:03 into the game as Jesse Perrin is called for cross checking Lance Monych. ... Nothing on that, but the Bucks are going right back on the advantage as Andrew Schembri has been called for hooking at 3:35. ... Corsi has negated that with a questionable tripping penalty at 3:59. Time for some 4-on-4, then the Killer Bees get their first advantage of the game for 24 seconds. ... Lots of sloppy passing by the Bucks so far, and you can bet Coach Ruskowski isn't happy about that. The last errant feed led to a series of shots for the Killer Bees, with their best chance missing just wide and Gajewski stopping everything else. ... Killer Bees are on the board, as Daymen Rycroft flat-out beat Gajewski one-on-one off a breakaway with an over-the-shoulder shot. They lead 1-0. Jesse Bennefield gets the lone assist on the goal at 8:1s3 in the period. ... Captain Adam Rivet has been called for tripping at 9:45 to give the Killer Bees their first full power play of the game with a 1-0 lead already in their pockets and one of the Bucks' top PK guys in the box. ... Bucks killed that off but are being outshot 9-3 so far. ... Bucks are going back on the power play at 12:53 as Sean Muncy was called for a hook. ... I believe Jarred Mohr just scored on a flukey slap shot that bounced off a Killer Bee body, but someone may have deflected that in. Let's check out the replay. Whatever the case, the game is tied 1-1. ... Yep, Mohr got it. Darryl Smith and Rivet on the assists. Still 6:06 to play in the opening period. ... Evan Schwabe headed to the box at 17:48 for roughing Schembri. Killer Bees on the power play for almost the rest of the period. ... Neil Trimm is still taking faceoffs on penalty kills, and I can see why Ruskowski was uncomfortable leaving him at center. He just got beaten cleanly by Lee, who only entered the faceoff circle after his center got kicked out. ... End of the period, game tied 1-1. Killer Bees up 12-8 on shots.

Second Period: Trimm is headed to the box just 33 seconds into the period for hooking to put the Killer Bees on their second full power play. They got a lot of shots off on their last chance but weren't able to score. ... McClellan has put the Killer Bees up 2-1, grabbing his own rebound and firing it past Gajewski. The assists were given to Irving and Lee over the PA system, but there's some question about that right now. That goal came on the power play at 2:51. ... Okay, Irving and Muncy are now getting the assists. Still not sure about that. ... The bad thing about following the puck is that you sometimes miss things at the other end, so I'm not entirely sure what happened, but Styffe somehow got tangled up with Franck, who was shoving the forward around, then got Harr in on the action. Rycroft will serve a penalty for Franck, who got called for roughing to put the Bucks on the power play at 6:40. ... After getting knocked down a couple times, Jeff Bes got right back up and tied the game at 2 with his third goal and 10th point of the season. Assists on the goal, which was scored at 7:03, go to Mohr and Rivet. Very basic play with Bes netting it from the left circle. ... And now the Killer Bees are going back on the power play with Styffe headed to the box for hooking at 8:27. ... The Killer Bees did not score on that one, but they got another chance at 10:51, and capitalized seven seconds off the faceoff as Stacy Bauman's wrist shot from the slot made it past Gajewski. Killer Bees lead 3-2 at 10:58. Sample was the Buck who served that very shot penalty box stay after going in for interference at 10:50. ... Styffe is seriously way too much fun to watch fight. Not that I condone violence or anything. But he just smashed Tom Sawatske just like he's wrecked everyone else I've seen him fight this season. This time, his opponent was more his size, but that didn't change much. ... Dieude-Fauvel headed to the box now for "holding of the stick" at 14:16. ... Just 36 seconds later, Schwabe has been called for a trip. Killer Bees will be 5-on-3 for 1:24. ... There were two pretty questionable non-calls against the Killer Bees on that one, and Ruskowski is not a happy camper on the bench. The Bucks did kill everything off, though. ... Grant Goeckner-Zoeller headed to the box at 17:48 for tripping Adam Rivet. Same time as the penalty at the end of the first period, but this time the Bucks will have the power play. ... After a good 40 seconds of mad scrambling around the Killer Bees' net, the Bucks managed to get a puck to trickle past Franck, who was playing in the right of his crease. After he was able to stop all the prior commotion, it really stinks for him that something like that would make it in. Goal was scored with 14.9 seconds left in the period. Schwabe is getting the goal, with Mike Looby and Jeremy Swanson earning assists. ... End of the period, game tied 3-3. Some scrapping at the end of that one, but nothing too serious. Corsi and Rycroft did the most pushing and shoving, but I don't think any penalties will be assessed. Bucks are up 20-17 on shots now. ... The assists on McClellan's goal have been fixed to Muncy and Lee, by the way.

Third Period: Amusingly enough, penalties were assessed, but on Goeckner-Zoeller and Styffe. Two minutes apiece for roughing to start the third. ... Those penalties expired, and less than a minute later, the Killer Bees have taken a 4-3 lead. McLellan from Lee and Muncy on a shot from a few feet in front of the net at 2:42 in the period. ... This has turned into one of those games when every whistle blown results in a shoving match in front of the net. Not too much of a surprise, I guess. ... Shaun Landolt is headed to the box for slashing at 3:27 to give the Bucks a chance to tie this on the power play. ... Nothing on that one or in the moments that followed, but now Irving is in the box for slashing at 6:38 in the period to give the Bucks another advantage. ... Bucks will now get 11 seconds of a 5-on-3, then 1:49 more on the power play as Muncy got called for hooking at 8:27. ... And now the Killer Bees are on the power play again with a slashing call against Dieude-Fauvel at 11:29. ... And we have a tie game again at 15:16, as Corsi jammed the puck home from in the crease on what was either a shot attempt or a really good centering feed from Trimm. Let's give him some credit and assume the latter. Game tied 4-4 with 4:44 to play. The PA announcer just said assists are going to Styffe and Trimm, but it should be the reverse. ... Bes really has a thing for getting knocked over then scoring goals today. This time his own teammate Smith was the guilty party, but then Bes got back up at just the right time to take a pass from Monych and fire it past Franck from in between the circles. Rivet gets the second assist for his pass to Monych, who was hanging out near the goal line to the right of the net. Well, Franck's right. Bucks lead for the first time today, 5-4, with 3:04 to play. ... And we are tied up once again with 1:56 to play, as a loose puck during a scramble around the net got tipped past Gajewski. Harr got the goal, and McClellan has what is currently the only assist. ... End of regulation, game still tied 5-5. Second overtime in three home games so far for the Bucks.

Overtime: After one of the longest delays before a call in recent memory, Schwabe is headed to the box for a high stick at 1:28 in the OT period. Killer Bees will be 4-on-3 for one minute, and Coach Chris Brooks has called a time out to decide what he wants to do here. ... The Killer Bees got close on that one quite a few times, but every Buck on the ice put everything he had out there to keep the puck out of the net. Still tied with two minutes left in the OT. ... End of overtime, still tied 5-5. I swear, it's like they're trying to make me miss as much of the World Series game as possible. Haha.

Shootout: Bucks have chosen to shoot second. ... Rycroft will go first for the Killer Bees. ... Gajewski always makes me nervous during shootout drills, and Rycroft just showed why. Gajewski came out of his crease and couldn't get back in time to stop a high shot that made it over his shoulder. ... Lincourt first for the Bucks and pretty much seemed to fake himself out before getting a pretty poor shot off. ... Irving up now, and Gajewski stayed back this time and was able to make a pad save. ... Smith next for the Bucks, and he ties the shootout 1-1 on a pretty wrister that ripped right by Franck. ... Goeckner-Zoeller next, and he beats Gajewski five hole after he reverted to his previous outer crease stance. ... Monych up, and down, as Franck made an easy stop on his shot. ... Bennefield up, and Gajewski got into good position on that one to keep his team alive. ... Bes up for the Bucks, and the shootout is now tied 2-2 on a nice shot that I think went under Franck into the net. ... McClellan couldn't cap off his day with a shootout goal, as Gajewski made the best save of the shootout so far. ... Trimm got stopped, so now it's sudden death. ... Landolt scored for the Killer Bees, so now it's all on Schwabe. ... Pretty sure he didn't even get that backhander on net.

Game Over: Bucks lose 6-5 in the shootout, fall to 3-1-2 (eight points) on the season. Killer Bees improve to 3-3-0 (six points). Spoke to Ruskowski and three players, and every one of them seemed disgusted more than anything else. Doesn't seem Ruskowski feels comfortable with his roster right about now.

This team needs to start playing better at home if they wanna bring in people into the stands. They need to come out hitting a team like rio that is fast. Every single player has to hit, man Smith hits scores goals and is fast. Some players hit at times and then it seems like they are scared to lay a check. A big reason why i think Richards should be sent home. Everyone saw it today with that gave a way at the blue line in rios zone. COME ON!!! It makes a big difference when u score first and when u get scored on. I think Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel didnt have a good game today he seemed like he was not all there, and was making bad passes left and right.

Hopefully today was just early season bumps. Thsi team can play brilliantly (see Friday), but can also just forget what to do. So far it's been Smith and Bes who are just playing heads and shoulders above everybody else. This road trip will prove alot.

Wow, why is this team so inconsistent? I still don't like Gajewski.

I agree Robin Richards needs to go. I just don't see how this guy could be a "tough guy". I saw him in Corpus when he tangled/hugged with Sledrake. Hell, he hugged Sledrake more than I've ever hugged my wife. I was truly embarrased as a bucks fan to see this kind of stuff in Corpus. He fights like my 6 year old daughter (no offense to my daughter). It's a shame that right now our only "tough guy" is Stiffe. We're getting pushed around by every team we've faced. We're not a very physical team and at this point I'm not sure what kind of team we are! C'mon Man!
