Arizona Sundogs defenseman Dan Laperriere, who served as the team's player/assistant coach for its 2007-08 championship season, has retired from playing hockey but will stick around behind the bench for Arizona's title defense campaign.
Laperriere joins head coach/general manager Marco Pietroniro, whose contract was extended through the 2010-11 season after he led the Sundogs to their President's Cup Finals victory in his second season with the team, on Arizona's coaching staff.
Sundogs' co-owner Eric Lacroix, a former NHL left wing, had previously served in the assistant coach position, but if the team's coach listing on its official website is any indication, those days are done.
