The biggest thing to come out of Friday's expansion draft for the Rapid City Rush was the selection of goaltender Mike Minard, who spent last season with the New Mexico Scorpions, and subsequent trade of Minard to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for future considerations.
Minard was the fifth pick for the Rush, who selected forward Garrett Prosofsky first, followed by center Derek LeBlanc, defenseman Cody Blanshan, forward Mike Lukajic and, of course, Minard.
The Bees now have two confirmed players for the upcoming season in Minard and center Travis Banga, who will serve as the team's player/assistant coach.
Rapid City already had forward Brady Olsen, center Stephen Cooke and goaltender Lanny Ramage on its 2008-09 roster.
As was expected by the organization, the Bucks were not affected by the draft. For a full synopsis, you can read the CHL's press release in the Saturday edition of the Times.
